Even though couples wear their wedding rings every day of their married life, wedding bands can be plain and, if you buy them from a large retailer, not personal to the couple. That’s where Ashley Hilton and Laurel Williams come in.

Hilton and Williams are the husband-and-wife team behind Ashley Hilton Jewelry, a New Zealand design company that creates personalized wedding and engagement rings (Husband Hilton creates the jewelry and wife Williams handles the financial side of the business). Working with photos (or occasionally just a few words) as inspiration, Hilton etches simple, elegant designs into handmade rings that tell a couple’s story.

HuffPost Weddings spoke with Hilton and Williams about their design process and what it means for couples to have personalized rings.

At bachelorette parties hosted by The Artful Bachelorette, you’ll see a naked man — but he’s not there to dance. He’s there to be drawn.

The New York City-based Artful Bachelorette hosts nude life-drawing classes for brides (and occasionally grooms)-to-be, offering a unique, sexy party experience. Partygoers enjoy drinks served by a topless waiter and a two-hour life-drawing class, featuring a naked male model as the subject. Parties can be held in private residences or in one the company’s rented event spaces, and every guest leaves with new artistic skills.

HuffPost Weddings spoke with Artful Bachelorette co-owner Samara Hodgson (her business partner is artist Fleur Childs) and one of the company’s regular models, Kurt McVey, about the inspiration for the business and what it’s like hosting an Artful bachelorette party.

Most men get ready to propose to their girlfriends by putting on a nice outfit and making sure the ring is tucked into their pocket. Vancouver circus performer Nigel Wakita got ready by by stuffing himself inside a giant balloon!

Wakita is the director of recreational education and a performer at the Vancouver Circus School, and his girlfriend, Fiona Walsh, also works at the school as a performer and office administrator. He told HuffPost Weddings that, since he knew she wanted a big, public proposal, he decided to organize a show at the school and pop the question during his balloon act, in which he puts himself inside a giant balloon.

But after Hurricane Sandy destroyed their Staten Island home in October 2012, they realized they could no longer afford their dream wedding. Then, Samantha, 24, a hairstylist, entered herself and Chris, 28, an engineer, into a contest to win a free wedding from TheKnot.com. They didn’t win, but thanks to the generosity of local wedding vendors and wedding gown designer Amsale, they married on Saturday in a free wedding at the Affinia Manhattan Hotel. Here, Samantha and Chris tell their story to HuffPost Weddings’ Erin Migdol.

Rachel Allison knew her girlfriend, Jaquie Richards, had been a “Harry Potter” fan since 4th grade. So when Allison decided to pop the question, she turned to Hogwarts for some proposal inspiration.

Allison enlisted the help of artist Tony Albano to create a “Quidditch box,” filled with the bat and four balls necessary to play the mythical game featured in the “Harry Potter” series. She hid an engagement ring inside one of the balls, the “Golden Snitch,” then surprised Richards.

Allison told HuffPost Weddings that although she has never read the “Harry Potter” books, the movies have been a major source of entertainment for her and Richards since they first began dating in 2010. She was inspired to center her proposal around Quidditch because she wanted the phrase “I open at the close,” which is inscribed on the Snitch and signifies endings and new beginnings, to factor into the proposal. What’s the best thing for two hot-and-heavy newlyweds to do post-wedding? Get naked and do a photo shoot, naturally.

That’s the idea behind “Adam and Eve” photo shoots, a new offering from wedding photographer Matt Adcock and his team at Del Sol Photography. Surrounded by the natural beauty of the “cenotes,” or underground rivers, in the caves of Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula, couples slip out of their clothes and into the water for the ultimate romantic (and sexy) photo shoot.

We spoke with Adcock about the inspiration behind the photos, how to capture the perfect couple shot and how he gets his clients to look so graceful underwater.

Since Pinterest launched in 2011, brides-to-be have used the website to keep track of inspirational wedding-related pictures. But currently, Pinterest doesn’t allow users to “pin” anything but photos -– meaning there is no way for users to save articles and documents that may be equally useful in planning their weddings.

That’s where Clipboard comes in. Launched in May 2012, Clipboard is a free online service that allows users to take screenshots of virtually anything on the web and save them to their “clipboard.” The fairly easy-to-use site markets itself as an extremely useful wedding planning tool — so we decided to try it out. Read on to find out what we thought of the site.

While millions of couples spend hours trying to learn how to improve their marriages through books or therapy, one recent study found that sustaining a happy marriage may only take 21 minutes, a pencil and a piece of paper.

A Northwestern University study set to be published in “Psychological Science” later this year surveyed 120 married couples for two years about their relationship satisfaction, and asked them to describe their most significant recent arguments. During the second year, half of the couples were also asked to complete three seven-minute writing tasks — one task every four months — in which they wrote about the arguments they’d had in the preceding months from the perspective of a theoretical neutral third party who wanted the best for all involved. These couples were found to have greater relationship satisfaction than the couples who did not participate in the writing task.

Lead author Eli Finkel, a Northwestern psychology professor, talked with HuffPost Weddings about why this 21-minute writing task was so influential in sustaining marriage quality.

The wedding photographer is a couple’s eyes and ears throughout the Big Day, often capturing moments the newlyweds won’t even know about until they flip through their photo album weeks later. So instead of asking newlyweds which of their photos is their favorite, we decided to turn the tables and ask the photographers themselves.

We asked 16 top wedding photographers around the country to choose their most memorable photo and share the story behind it. Though it was tough for all of them to pick just one, they shared gorgeous, meaningful photos and gave us all the behind-the-scenes details.

Remember the sweaty, uncomfortable awkwardness of middle school dances? When “slow dancing” consisted of a boy and girl swaying together in the school gym while standing as far apart as possible and avoiding eye contact?

Jeffrey and Alexa Schultz’s first dance went something like that, but their relationship didn’t end there. On Thursday, Jeffrey posted a photo on Reddit of himself and Alexa awkwardly dancing together in 6th grade — alongside a photo of them on their wedding day.
