Hello!
Welcome to the blog of Erin Migdol. I’m a Broadway nut, movie buff, choco-holic, writer and editor.
I’m currently an associate editor at the J. Paul Getty Trust, where I produce content for the organization’s blog, magazine, and other communications channels.
I spent four years at The Mighty, an online community for people with health challenges and those who care for them. For the first three years I was the chronic illness editor, which means I was responsible for managing The Mighty’s content about conditions like lupus, fibromyalgia, Crohn’s disease, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, chronic pain, arthritis, etc. Then, I was promoted to senior editor, a role that allowed me to work on growing some of our smaller disease “communities” and collaborating with The Mighty’s revenue team to provide editorial support for sponsored campaigns.
Previously, I was an assistant editor at Inside Weddings magazine and website, where I wrote features about the most spectacular weddings imaginable (really, they’re insanely gorgeous), developed online content, and interviewed awesome wedding professionals (check out my Q&A with Ace of Cakes star Duff Goldman in the Fall 2014 issue and my article about Tracy Morgan’s wedding in the Winter 2016 issue!)
In July 2013, I completed a 9-month internship with the weddings section of The Huffington Post, where I was responsible for discovering and writing viral news stories about all things wedding and marriage. I also interviewed wedding industry professionals and engaged/married couples for longer features. My stories have gone on to be covered by outlets such as ABC News, the Daily Mail, Inside Edition and The Today Show, and one of my pieces was chosen to be featured in Huffington Magazine.
I have also contributed freelance articles for Mic.com, exploring issues relating to dating, sex and relationships for the Millennial generation, FabFitFun, where I wrote about a variety of women’s lifestyle topics, and the LA Stage Times, covering the latest in the LA theater scene.
I graduated from UC Davis in June 2012 with a double major in film studies and communication and a minor in sociology. I worked at The California Aggie, the UC Davis student newspaper, for three years — I worked as a staff writer for the features desk for two years and was the features editor for one year.
