Fourteen Style Designs Wedding Suits For Lesbian, Queer and Trans Community

Here’s something you don’t hear every day in the wedding world: not every bride wants to wear a dress.

For many in the lesbian, queer and transgender communities, the perfect wedding outfit is a clean, classically-tailored suit. But as HuffPost blogger and LGBT wedding planner Bernadette Coveney-Smith knows, it’s virtually impossible to find a chic, wedding-appropriate suit made for the female body in stores. So six months ago, Coveney-Smith launched Fourteen Style, an online boutique that specializes in pants, jackets, vests and shirts designed for customers of varying gender identities.

HuffPost Weddings spoke with Coveney-Smith about how difficult it can be to find the perfect wedding suit in stores, and how Fourteen Style’s suits differ from average formalwear.

Bride Sets Dress On Fire In Controversial Photo

Instead of preserving their wedding gowns and stowing them in the back of their closets, many adventurous brides are choosing to destroy their dresses (using water,paint or even cake) for increasingly popular “Trash the Dress” photo shoots. But one recent Trash the Dress shoot has some wondering if the trend has gone too far.

After Natasha Samuel and Daniel Yakcobi married on a beach in Israel in May, Samuel and photographer Eric Simantov staged a Trash the Dress shoot in which Samuel put on her gown, doused the back in flammable liquid and set it on fire, the Daily Mail reported Tuesday. Simantov quickly took the photo before Samuel ran into the ocean to put out the flames.
